Panel

A panel is a term in painting used to describe a support of wood or other sturdy, durable, strong and rigid or inflexible, unmalleable and inelastic material. It is distinct from canvas or other flexible materials. Examples of a support that can be used as a panel or ground for painting include: a plywood board; a masonite board; a large steel plate; a primed particle or chipboard, a cast iron board or a laminated cardboard.
