Documentary Art

Documentary art is any artwork intended to present facts in an objective manner without inserting fictional, imaginary and fabricated  matter. In documentary art, the artist visually records and comments on some content, often political, economic, humanitarian or social, by accumulating fact based or accurate, truthful and historical detail. The term “documentary art” is primarily associated with the artists who documented the cruel, inhuman and severely brutal realities of British life during the Depression in the 1930s.
