Accent is the emphasis of light or dark in a drawing, or of color in a painting. It allows a  work of art to lure more attention or draw the viewer and capture his senses, be it to a particular point within the composition or the picture as a whole. In essence, accent is placed in a painting or drawing for emphasis using a brush or pencil.
