clarisse perrette was born and lives in in new york city
her paintings explore and record the random, hectic movements from day-to-day. one action bumping into another, one thought suddenly trascends you to a new dimension, one shape intermingles and interlopes into the next one. a word heard, ignites your senses and opens up a new horizon, a seemingly meaningless encounter leads you to the alter of your destiny, a handshake, a smile, a laughter, a gesture, everything seems to lead or connect to the next, whether conciously or by inertia.
however, at times we move rapidly, with haste and cloudy intentions, and therefore the pieces either remain fragmented or fuse in a complex form.
clarisse works with oils on canvas to examine this basic, and continual dialogue in daily life between individual shapes and hues and the larger meanings we construct. all day long we build stories around objects, feelings or events, by grouping shapes and colors. her paintings invite you to do the same.
